Ciara Getting Ready For Wendy Williams

Ciara sent this Twitpic of herself getting ready for her appearance on Wendy Williams today. I've never been a big fan of Ciara's style, but it's starting to grow on me a little.  The Louboutin boots definitely helped persuade me.

Lance Gross in Edge Magazine *fans self*

I'm convinced that God took the time out to personally make this man. Used those holy hands to mold him from a little piece of clay into the beautiful specimen that we see before us today. He's just BEAUTIFUL. Kinda reminds me of a young Blair Underwood with an extra chocolate swirl. Not just any chocolate but the world's finest dark choc....... OK....let me stop before I get in trouble. Lmao

40 Isn't Looking So Bad....

I have a long, long, long....really long way to go before I turn 40 (lmao!). But looking at women like Nia Long makes the number look like....just a number.  People sure do age a lot differently these days, don't they? I pray I look like this at 40 and beyond.

Shakira Covers GQ Mexico

This pic reminds me a lot of Jane Fonda's "Barbarella" character. Nice.

Teyana Taylor @ Kanye's Runaway Premiere

I don't know how I would feel about this outfit on anyone else, but it works for her. She is such a beautiful girl.

Yahoo Explores 5 Recession Resistant Jobs

I came across this article on Yahoo that gave some insight into careers that are still experiencing growth even through the recession and will continue to experience growth over the next 8 years. In this day and age we are all looking for a more stability in our bank accounts, so it doesn't hurt to take a look.

1. ACCOUNTANTS AND AUDITORS They provide vital services to companies and individuals who want to maintain solid financial footing by analyzing and communicating financial information, ensuring public records are kept, and preparing taxes.

Recession resistance: Accountants and auditors held 1.3 million jobs in 2008, and that number is expected to increase by 279,400 over the next decade into 2018.

Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, is the most widely sought-after qualification by employers. For upper-level positions, some employers might prefer a master's degree in accounting or business administration.

Average yearly salary: $65,840

2. MEDICAL ASSISTANTS Providing needed assistance in the offices of physicians, podiatrists, and chiropractors, medical assistants handle administrative, clinical, or other specialized tasks.

Recession resistance: The U.S. Department of Labor forecasts the number of medicals assistants will grow 34 percent from 2008-2018. Reasons: Medical advancements and an aging U.S. population.

Education: Medical assisting certificate and associate's degree programs provide academic and clinical training in various areas and can usually be completed in one to two years.

Average yearly salary: $29,060

3.REGISTERED NURSES RNs treat patients, give advice about medical conditions, instruct families on how to deal with health issues, and provide valuable emotional support.

Recession resistance: RNs are the largest health care occupation with 2.6 million jobs. And that number is expected to increase by 22 percent through 2018. Reasons: Increasingly complex medical treatments and the rising number of aging Americans needing long-term care.

Education: A bachelor's degree, an associate's degree, and a diploma, from an approved nursing program are the three most common educational avenues to a career as an RN. You'll advance further and faster with a more advanced degree.

Average yearly salary: $65,130

4. COMPUTER SOFTWARE ENGINEERS & PROGRAMMERS They make computers tick by creating, testing, and evaluating software applications and systems. Engineers might even design the latest hot-selling computer game or develop a new operating system.

Recession resistance: In 2008, computer software engineers and programmers held about 1.3 million jobs. That figure is expected to jump 21 percent by 2018. Reasons: Concerns over information security and increased needs for new software.

Education: Bachelor's degrees in computer programming and applications, networking, or information systems, are among the most sought after by employers. An associate's degree or certificate might suffice for others.

Average yearly salary: $73,470

5. MANAGEMENT ANALYSTS Sometimes called management consultants, analysts serve private industry by evaluating and recommending ways to better an organization's efficiency and productivity or to increase profits.

Recession resistance: Competition for management analyst jobs is highly competitive, but firms who might hire consultants specializing in environmental ("green") issues are expected to help the number of analysts jobs grow by 24 percent into the year 2018.

Education: Educational requirements in this field might vary for entry-level positions. A master's degree in business administration, or a related field - such as e-business or e-commerce - is considered useful. However, because analysts handle a wide range of projects, a bachelor's degree in fields such as human resources, information technology, or marketing and sales could open doors.

Average yearly salary: $82,920

Using Makeup Testers Safely

I'm a psychotic germaphobe with OCD tendencies, and a host of other ailments that would never allow me to use the makeup testers at stores. However, if you are a normal functioning human being who wants to try on makeup, Women's Health gives a few tips on how to do so safely. Hopefully you won't fall victim to the bacteria and God knows what else that may be swimming on those things. OK, OK....I'm sorry!! I can't help it!

When Trying On.....

Lipstick - Wipe off the top layer with a tissue. Dab the color onto your lips with a cotton swab.

Eye Shadow- Use a cotton swab to brush the color onto your brow bone. Steer clear of your eyelids.

Lotion- Avoid the jarred variety. Stick with lotions that are in a tube or a container with a pump.

Solid Foundation- Remove the top layer with a tissue, then use a disposable makeup sponge to apply the product to your skin.

Blush- Spritz an alcohol-based spray onto the communal makeup brush, let it dry for a minute or two, and then swipe the blush onto your cheeks.

Style Round-Up: Jennifer Hudson, Victoria Beckham & More

I just saw a before picture of her, and her transformation really is amazing. I actually like the turban trend, but Kourtney didn't do it justice. It looks ridiculous on her. Cute look for Melanie Fiona. I want those shooooeeeesss :( If I had her body I would have a cat suit in every color of the rainbow. It would be my uniform. Victoria Beckham in Isabel Marant (who is becoming one of my favorite designers) red leather pants.

Sade Made A Deal With The Devil....

That's the only reason I could come up with as to why she still looks EXACTLY the same way she did in 1983.

20/20 Investigates Fake Designer Shoes

I was under the impression that everyone knew these shoes were fake, but apparently not *side eye*. There are a lot of women out there that simply don't care, but this segment really shows the difference and it's just not worth it in my opinion.

Beyonce Launching Temporary Tattoo Line

I tried to be mad at it when I first saw the headline, but then I realized it was actually a really good idea and.....I want it! lol According to Mama Tina the idea came about after they shot the latest Dereon ads in which Beyonce wore temporary tattoos to give the fall campaign "a tough edginess". They teamed up with airbrush make up company Temptu to create the line which launches at Sephora on November 1st. The basic kits being sold at the store will cost $16, while deluxe kits (only available at dereon.com and temptu.com), which in addition to the tattoos also include a signed photo of Beyonce as well as a chance to win a trip to NYC are $34.

Melody Thornton & Rihanna

I love Rihanna's hair despite all the negative feedback its been receiving. She's able to pull off a lot of looks that a lot of people would never be able to. I expected a lot more from Melody, especially since it was her Bday....but ok *shrugs*

The Most Beautiful Cover I've Seen All Year

It's almost perfect!! The only thing missing is Idris Elba.  They could have put him right next to Boris in the left corner.  Oh well!! Kudos to Essence nonetheless for putting all these fine men together.  Jeez....

Oxygen Saves Me From Rachel Zoe!

Yesss!!! An alternative to Rachel Zoe! I really need this in my life. There's no denying that woman's passion and talent when it comes to fashion, but hearing her talk makes me want to just.....give up! Thankfully Oxygen is now debuting a new show based on the lives of a group of stylists entitled "House of Glam", and it's a welcome alternative for me. I'll still tune in to Rachel from time to time to WATCH the fashion, but my TV will be on MUTE!! Check out the B Lynn Group website to view the stylist's portfolios. The show premiere's on October 5th at 10 pm.

The Other Genius Behind Kanye's "Power"

I was completely blown away by Kanye's "moving painting" for his song "Power". Just f'ing GENIUS, visually AMAZING and the most innovative work I've seen in music in a long time.  I would love to walk around that man's brain for just a few minutes to see what the hell is going on in there. Aside from how people feel about his arrogance, mild tourette's, and meltdowns, artistically that man is the truth and cannot be denied.  But with that being said, I can't give all of the credit to Kanye.  According to the NY times he saw Marco Brambilla's (movie director and the director of Power) piece entitled "Civilization" and was inspired to work with the director on his own project.  I watched Civilization and was again blown away. He is an incredible artist.  Check out "Civilization" and "Power" below.  If you're interested in seeing more of Marco Brambilla's work, visit his website here.
